SodaSlim Ingredients: What Is Inside The Morning Capsule

Five plants are named on the SodaSlim front panel: caffeine anhydrous, green tea extract, green coffee bean extract, garcinia extract and raspberry ketone.

The artwork gives no amount for any of them, so each entry below carries the dose its published trials used and the soonest any of them measured a result. One acts within the hour. Three are measured in weeks. One has never been tested in a person.

They are ordered by speed rather than by the order the label prints them in, because speed is the axis a buyer can actually plan around.

Plant by plant

The five SodaSlim ingredients, fastest acting first

Caffeine Anhydrous

dried caffeine powderPeak in blood: about 1 hour

Caffeine anhydrous is caffeine with the water taken out, which makes it a powder that can be weighed into a capsule rather than brewed. Chemically it is the same molecule a cup of coffee delivers. What changes is the precision and the speed: a capsule releases a fixed quantity in one go, and blood concentration peaks within roughly an hour.

Its effects on weight are the best documented of anything on this panel. Pool the randomised trials against dose and caffeine intake tracks downward with weight, body mass index and fat mass together, the association widening as the dose rises across the pooled trials. A separate strand of work explains part of that: caffeine taken with tea catechin activated brown adipose tissue and raised cold-induced thermogenic capacity in a trial that used 615 mg of catechin with 77 mg of caffeine measured against a caffeine-only control.

The number worth carrying away is not a benefit figure but a ceiling. Two safety reviews converge on 400 mg a day from every source combined for healthy adults in a systematic review of adverse effects and in the earlier review behind that figure. A crossover trial of 23 men measured what happens near bedtime and found 100 mg tolerable up to four hours before sleep while 400 mg disturbed sleep architecture when taken within twelve in a placebo-controlled design. That trial is the strongest argument for the morning instruction printed on this bottle.

One more thing is worth knowing about daily caffeine. A double-blind trial that put habitual users through a withdrawal period found brain activity during a working memory task changed when the caffeine stopped in a randomised placebo-controlled crossover. A person who takes this capsule every morning for two months and then finishes the last bottle should expect a few flat days, which is a caffeine effect rather than evidence the formula was doing something else.

Green Tea Extract

Camellia sinensis, leafMeasured across a 24-hour day

Green tea extract concentrates the catechins in tea leaf, of which epigallocatechin gallate carries most of the research. It is the second-fastest thing in this bottle and it is still not fast: the measurement that founded the field ran inside a respiratory chamber for a full 24 hours.

That chamber trial gave its subjects 90 mg of EGCG with 50 mg of caffeine at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and recorded a rise of about 4 per cent in 24-hour energy expenditure against placebo, with a shift toward fat oxidation in ten healthy men. Caffeine alone at 50 mg three times a day did not reproduce it, which is the finding that made catechins interesting in their own right.

Pooled work has since put a size on the effect and a condition on it. A meta-analysis of catechin-rich teas with caffeine found a consistent rise in energy expenditure and fat oxidation across twelve studies, while another found the weight effect blunted in people whose habitual caffeine intake exceeded 300 mg a day in a meta-analysis of green tea trials. A Cochrane review of green tea preparations for weight loss concluded the effect was small and not clinically important across fourteen trials.

More recent work narrows where it helps. A 2024 meta-analysis asked whether catechin adds anything to exercise training in overweight adults across randomised trials, and another examined blood pressure and lipids in the same population in a 2023 meta-analysis. Neither describes a dramatic ingredient. Both describe a modest one that behaves consistently.

Green Coffee Bean Extract

Coffea arabica, unroasted seedNothing pooled under 4 weeks

Roasting coffee destroys most of its chlorogenic acid, which is why this extract is made from the green seed. Chlorogenic acid is the compound the research follows, and the trials are dosed against it rather than against the extract.

A 2023 meta-analysis pooled trials using at least 500 mg a day of chlorogenic acid and found a mean difference of about 1.3 kg in body weight against placebo, with no heterogeneity between studies and no sign of publication bias in a systematic review. A dose-response analysis across fifteen trials added the constraint that matters most to somebody buying a month's supply: supplementation periods shorter than four weeks produced no effect at all in pooled dose-response data.

A second dose-response meta-analysis examined anthropometric measures across the same literature in adults, and a 2017 trial gave 64 obese women 400 mg a day of the extract for eight weeks alongside energy restriction, measuring serum adipocytokines and body composition in a randomised clinical trial. A later review looked past weight at cardiovascular risk markers in a meta-analysis, and a broad review covered chlorogenic acid across the coffee literature in a comprehensive review.

This ingredient also carries the field's most famous retraction. A 2012 crossover study reported large losses on green coffee extract and was later withdrawn; PubMed labels the record a retracted publication and the record carries that label. It is cited here rather than omitted, because a reader who half-remembers the green coffee story deserves to be told how it ended.

Garcinia Extract

Garcinia cambogia, rindTwelve weeks in its largest trial

Garcinia cambogia is a small South Asian fruit whose rind is rich in hydroxycitric acid. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of an enzyme used in converting carbohydrate to fat, and it has been proposed for about thirty years.

The trial everything else is measured against randomised 135 overweight men and women to either 1,500 mg a day of hydroxycitric acid or placebo for twelve weeks, with both groups on a high-fibre, low-energy diet. Both groups lost weight. Neither separated from the other on body weight or on fat mass in JAMA. That is a null result at a large dose over a long period, and it is the single most important fact about this ingredient.

A later systematic review pooled nine randomised trials and found a difference of 0.88 kg in favour of garcinia, which its authors described as of uncertain clinical relevance, while also noting that the trials were small and mostly short in a meta-analysis. Whether the small pooled figure or the large null trial is the better guide is a judgement, and this desk's judgement is that a twelve-week randomised trial at a known dose is worth more than a pooled average of short ones.

The safety literature attached to this plant is set out on the side effects page rather than here, because it belongs in the section whose job it is.

Raspberry Ketone

4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)butan-2-oneNo human trial exists

Raspberry ketone is a single aroma compound. It is what makes a ripe raspberry smell like a raspberry, and at supplement doses it is produced industrially rather than extracted from fruit, because getting a useful quantity from raspberries would be extravagant.

There is no randomised controlled trial of the isolated compound in people. What exists is animal and cell work, and it is reported here as such. A ten-day study in normal, obese and health-compromised obese mice gave 165, 330 and 500 mg per kilogram of body weight; the compound slowed weight gain and, at the two higher doses, a majority of the animals in some groups died in a preliminary study. Those doses are enormous when scaled, and the mortality is the part of that paper most summaries leave out.

A meal-pattern study in mice found the compound altered how and when the animals ate, and changed cardiovascular parameters, rather than acting on fat stores directly in a controlled feeding study. A bioavailability study in mice measured how much of an oral dose actually survives digestion and reaches circulation, and found diet-induced obesity changed the answer in a metabolism study. A 2024 paper described an effect on hypothalamic inflammation in mice fed a high fat diet in obese animals.

Four mouse papers and no human trial is the whole evidence base. This desk declines to translate any of it into a statement about what a person taking one capsule will experience, and that refusal is recorded in full further down this page.

Honest label analysis

What the SodaSlim label does and does not tell a buyer

A Supplement Facts panel is the document that lets somebody compare a capsule with a trial. It lists each ingredient, the amount per serving and the daily value where one exists. The eight bottle images the seller publishes are all of the front, and the ingredient descriptions on its information page run to prose and no arithmetic.

So the honest position is this. The identity of the five plants is established, because the front panel and the vendor's own ingredient graphic both name them. The quantities are known to the manufacturer and to nobody on this side of the bottle. Where a page here prints a number, it belongs to a trial and the sentence says whose it is.

There is a second reason to read the bottle rather than any website, including this one. An analysis of herbal and dietary supplements implicated in liver injury found their contents frequently did not match their labels in a chemical analysis. A label is the best document available and it is not a laboratory report.

If your bottle carries a back panel

It beats every figure on this website. Photograph it and send it to contact@Sodeaslim.com and these pages will be rewritten around it, with the date at the foot moved forward to say when.

Where the line is drawn

Claims this SodaSlim desk will not make about these ingredients

The seller's information page reaches further than the bottle in three directions. Each one is named here, with the reason it stops.

That raspberry ketone does anything measurable in a person

Searching PubMed for raspberry ketone against human body weight returns adipocyte work, mouse work and reviews of both. There is no randomised trial of the single compound in people, so there is no human dose, no human timescale and no human result. The ingredient pages say what the animal work found, name the species, and stop there.

That this capsule contains any stated amount of anything

The artwork carries a front panel and no Supplement Facts panel, and the seller's information page describes the plants without giving figures. A number invented here would be the most useful sentence on the website and the least honest, so what appears instead is the amount each published trial gave people.

That the formula works on gut bacteria

The seller's information page frames the product as acting against bacteria that sabotage weight loss. Caffeine, green coffee, raspberry ketone, garcinia and green tea are not probiotics, prebiotics or antimicrobials, and the bottle makes no microbiome claim. It is left where it was found.

How the five sit together

How the SodaSlim plants interact with each other

Two of these five are stimulants, and that is the interaction worth understanding. Caffeine anhydrous is one outright. Green tea extract carries its own caffeine unless it has been decaffeinated, and the research on catechins almost always studies them in company with caffeine, which is why the chamber trial above dosed the two together.

The pooled evidence also suggests they partly cancel. The green tea meta-analysis that examined habitual intake found the catechin effect weaker in people already taking more than 300 mg of caffeine a day in its subgroup analysis. A heavy coffee drinker adding this capsule is therefore in the position where the catechins have least to offer and the caffeine has most to add.

Chlorogenic acid and hydroxycitric acid have no established interaction with the other three, and raspberry ketone has no human pharmacology at all to interact with. The practical summary is that this is a caffeine-led formula with three slower plants behind it.
